In Finland and Iran, there is a similar perception of the most promising cooperation sectors to boost bilateral trade.

Although the potential for trade diversification is in many sectors, banking continues to hinder trade. European banks have gone out quite cautiously about Iran's business. In the spring of 2016, the Central Chamber of Commerce of Finland and Iran set up a bank working group to find solutions to overcome the problems of bank transit between two countries.

Facilitation of transport is expected through the opening of a rail link through northern Europe through Russia and Azerbaijan to Iran. The line is already ready to go to the Iranian border and the bridge over the border line is ready. One possibility is to take a train to Russia's Astrakhan and to ship ro-ro shipment to Iran's Amirabad port. There is a train connection to, for example, Tehran and Bandar Abbas.
